The Synergy of Experience and Novelty in Effective Sustainable Leadership

A person's qualifications to lead, both in a corporate context and in other fields, are not limited by status or age. There are several important factors that need to be taken into account before someone can assume a leadership role. Among these factors, experience level has a central role. An effective leader must have sufficient experience to deal with various complex situations. The ability to solve problems is the main key considering the challenges that often arise in environmental dynamics. Not only that, the perceptions of prospective staff and the public's view of a leader also have a significant impact. They expect real evidence of leader competence, not just appearances.

For example, in the selection process for a corporate driver position, a leader needs to consider each candidate's experience. Even though candidate driver A has been in the job for 1 years, there are other candidates who have much longer experience. However, experience is not only about the duration of work, but also how one uses that time. An aspiring driver who has been in the job for 1 years probably has consistently deep knowledge of routes, knows areas with long and short red lights, and has a deep understanding of road conditions.

Not only a matter of experience, but also how one takes the lesson from that experience. True experience comes from reflection and lessons learned from the situations at hand. The experience of a leader is not only measured by the number of years spent, but also the extent to which he is able to respond and take lessons from each experience he has.

Young people are often faced with challenges to prove themselves in front of those who are more senior. However, they have the unique potential to explore new ways of thinking. The fresh perspective they bring can help identify solutions that haven't been thought of before. They are not bound by old routines and practices that may have been attached to previous generations. Novelty in views and thoughts is a valuable asset for the development of the company and society.

In dealing with uncertainty, young people also have important qualities, namely emotional toughness and intellectual maturity. They may have the ability to adapt more quickly to change and meet challenges with creativity.

Don't let the concept of "flying hours" intimidate young people. Experience is not the only determinant of the quality of a leader. Young people who have just graduated can offer different perspectives and fresh solutions. When asked about their experiences, they may respond that they are more interested in the future than the past.

In facing a changing world, young people have the potential to become agents of change. Their courage to challenge the status quo and seek new solutions is a testament to their strength. The new perspectives they bring have invaluable value for the development of organizations and society.

But this courage must be balanced with the ability to learn from experience and adapt quickly. Experience and novelty are not contradictory concepts, but two sides of the same coin. One can build a strong foundation with experience, while still leaving room for innovation and novelty in their approach.

In other words, being a leader is not only about having a lot of experience, but also about how someone uses that experience to continue to innovate and develop. Young people have the power to change paradigms and drive progress, provided they remain humble, continue to learn, and dare to take a step forward.

As for nobility and goodness, it is not about material things or money. Rather, it is about the rewards and reputation earned by positive contributions to society and the country. How someone provides new ideas, ideas, and solutions, directly contributes to improvement and progress. This is the essence of meaningful leadership.

We cannot just be passive spectators in the life and development of the nation. Instead, we must be actively involved, think critically, and make a real contribution. Through collective efforts, both through ideas and actions, we can be part of positive changes that bring good to many people.

In order to make this happen, we must go beyond personal interests and focus on the greater interest, namely the common good. When each individual takes responsibility for contributing to society, our nation will become stronger, more sustainable and more prosperous.

Leadership, similar to an orchestra, can be likened to the art of composing scores in context. As a conductor, the role of a leader is to provide space for each individual to explore their creativity. When we unite in harmony, the result is an ordered and harmonious symphony. However, even though it has extraordinary musicians and musical instruments, without the score, what is produced is only silence or sheer chaos. Therefore, synergistic collaboration and clear guidelines are very crucial.

As a concrete example of the concept of Quality Performance Indicator (QPI) is the use of the time it takes to make the streets dry after rain as an indicator of the efficiency of the drainage system or water management in an environment. However, how can QPI succeed in overcoming challenges in implementing sustainable policies? Sustainable policies are policies that are based on science, common sense considerations, and serve the public interest. How can a clear and measurable QPI contribute to designing and implementing sustainable policies?

Quality Performance Indicator (QPI) is important at the very end of the implementation level. QPI must be clearly defined, supported by strict procedures, to ensure execution capability by anyone involved in execution. Having consistent and measurable guidelines at each stage of implementation is essential.

However, at this stage, leave it to the experts or the owner of the expertise to produce the appropriate shape or result. A content creator can be given directions or defined corridors, or illustrations as a guide in compiling. However, make sure there are certain criteria such as avoiding controversy, respecting beliefs, and respecting customs. After reaching a certain stage, let the experts or creative individuals provide choices according to the needs of decision makers or authorities. This is where the essence of leadership comes into play, setting the right direction and empowering individuals to take actionable steps.

As the level of leadership is getting higher, the leadership role is also getting more operational. Along with that, the SOP will become clearer, the job description will be more defined, but at the same time, the role of the leader will also become more abstract because the scope of his responsibilities will widen. Targets and sizes may vary depending on the scale of the organization being run. For example, when leading only 10 people, tasks can be given individually, but when managing 100 people or even 180,000 people, there needs to be values or measurements that are used as guidelines to achieve organizational goals.

Leadership experience at the operational and middle levels becomes a strong foundation when entering a higher level of leadership. This experience provides a broad perspective and deep understanding. However, nothing is impossible when it comes to leadership development. Many factors influence such as flying hours and completion of challenges. Track record is an important tool that describes what has been done and achieved.

As a leader, having clear goals and missions is key. The mission itself becomes a guide in making every decision and action. For example, along the way, a leader might ask, "Will this action lead to social justice?" Asking about relevance to the mission and goals is key to ensuring the right direction.

The presence of young people in leadership has a crucial role. Youth brings new strength, fresh perspectives, and a fresh look at things that have been going on for a long time. They have the ability to see things from different perspectives and ask new questions that can inspire positive change. If there is an old man who constantly brings novelty, then he actually still has a youthful spirit.

Ultimately, the essence of leadership is creating a positive impact. Bringing new ideas, ideas and solutions to improve the quality of a country is the responsibility of every leader. While experience and a solid track record are important, a passion for change remains at the heart of effective leadership. Do this with determination and passion. Together, we will achieve proud results.
